According to Axios, Al Jazeera has pulled the plug on its digital conservative news outlet, Rightly.
Al Jazeera launched the outlet last February to “provide fresh voices that are too often left out of the mainstream media a space to engage and debate the issues that matter most to them.”
At the time, analysts wondered whether Al Jazeera was launching Rightly to balance out the perceived bias in its reporting.
According to the report, former Fox News columnist and current editor-in-chief Scott Norvell will remain in place but is expected to depart in a few months.
“As far as Rightly, we’re still evaluating the brand itself,” said Michael Weaver, senior vice president of business development and growth at Al Jazeera Media Network. “We’re constantly evaluating everything we put on the air.”
Brad Polumbo, a policy correspondent at the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE) who worked on “Rightly,” confirmed Rightly was being shuttered.
