WCCO host Cory Hepola has left the radio station. The Star Tribune is one of many outlets reporting that Hepola could be contemplating a run in the Minnesota gubernatorial race.
Hepola’s show, “Hey it’s Cory Hepola,” debuted on WCCO Radio in January 2019, but the radio host had to sever ties with his show if he indeed plans a run in politics.
“Every experience, positive or negative, prepares us for what’s next,” Hepola said. “None of us are a finished product. but each day is a new opportunity to identify our special gifts and use them to uplift others.
“I knew from the start I’d do my best to accomplish that at WCCO…or so I thought. WCCO DID change my life, only in positive ways that I didn’t expect. So today, I leave the iconic station with a heavy heart.”
MPR News’ Brian Bakst stated Hepola is evaluating a third-party bid. A spokesperson from Audacy, which owns WCCO, verified Hepola’s exit but had no further comment regarding other information, such as his political aspirations.
