Following the resignation of CNN marketing and communications boss Allison Gollust from the company, WarnerMedia’s head of corporate communications and marketing has filled the position on an interim basis.
James Anderson has been tapped as the interim head of communications at CNN Worldwide. Gollust resigned from the company after a third-party investigation into WarnerMedia’s handling of the Chris Cuomo firing.
“Doesn’t it give him a continued ability to influence the organization, given how much power she had there and how close he and Allison are?” One former CNN senior exec told The Wrap regarding Gollust staying after Jeff Zucker resigned as the network’s president.
“Like when a baseball manager is thrown out by the umpires, but he hides in the tunnel to the dugout whispering instructions to his bench coach.”
Furthermore, Rick Lewchuk, CNN’s SVP of marketing and brand standards, will oversee news marketing endeavors for the network in Gollust’s absence.
Anderson has been with the company since October 2005 when he joined Turner Broadcasting (now WarnerMedia) as a VP of public relations, concentrating on their kids’ brands Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, and Boomerang.
