Marc Malusis Taking Lead Sports Anchor Position at New York’s WPIX

Former WFAN host Marc Malusis has a new gig. Fans who enjoyed him on the radio will now be able to see him on television.

As Newsday‘s Neil Best first reported on Twitter, Malusis will be the lead sports anchor for New York’s WPIX (channel 11). He’ll be behind the desk next beginning next Monday.

Malusis had been looking for a new spot since WFAN replaced the show he’d been doing with Maggie Gray, Moose & Maggie, was replaced by Tiki & Tierney, moving over from CBS Sports Radio.

(In sort of a sports radio trade, Gray went to CBS Sports Radio, joining Andrew Perloff for a new show in the 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET national afternoon drive-time slot.)

Malusis has been on weekends at WFAN since the lineup shuffle and, according to the New York Post’s Andrew Marchand, will remain in that role even after he begins at WPIX. The question is whether or not Malusis’s new job will prevent him from continuing as a contributor for SNY and its game-time studio coverage. (WPIX also carries New York Yankees telecasts.)

According to the New York Daily News‘ Bob Raissman, Malusis will also host the Big Apple Ball show on Thursdays and Sunday’s NY Sports Nation program for the station.

At WPIX, Malusis takes the lead sports anchor role vacated by Andy Adler when she left the station last year.

“I just want to say thank you to everyone out there that’s listened to me over the years,” Malusis said on the air in December after the lineup change was made. “I’ve been here 21 years. WFAN has been my life and WFAN means the world to me.”
