iHeartRadio launched a feature on its mobile app Monday which allows listeners to send hosts feedback or messages via a 30-second recording.
“Talk Back” appears on the app as a red microphone button linked to the station’s profile. The feature is available on podcasts too.
According to TechCrunch, the feature will initially be made available to all 900-plus owned and operated broadcast stations across iHeartMedia starting today and will roll out to interested iHeartRadio podcasters who opt-in sometime in early April.
iHeartMedia’s Chief Product Officer Chris Williams said the motivation for developing the feature was to engage the audience as much as possible.
“We want to be able to hear from them and to use that to help drive the conversation and expand the voices that are being heard on the air.”
According to Nielsen, the iHeartMedia mobile app reaches over 270 million monthly listeners, who spend around 30 minutes per day listening to broadcast radio across platforms. The iHeartRadio mobile app has over 150 million registered users,
