A new limited podcast series is coming to The Ringer on its Book of Basketball 2.0 feed. The show, hosted by Jackie MacMullan is called Icons Club. It’s eight-episode run begins Friday.
During each episode, MacMullan will look at players that had a major impact on the NBA. Her focus will be on players that were not only the best of the best, but also left a lasting cultural impact on the league. The first episode focuses on Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain and Oscar Robertson. Michael Jordan, Kevin Durant, Charles Barkley, Steph Curry, Julius Erving, and Shaquille O’Neal will all appear on future episodes.
While Icons Club is a Spotify Original, the show will be available on all platforms.
Last year, when Jackie MacMullan announced she was leaving ESPN, she noted that the network had become an entertainment product and that she no longer felt like she fit there. She still had more she wanted to accomplish. She has made plenty of appearances on other Ringer podcasts. This is the first she will headline.
After the debut episode drops on Friday, listeners will get two episodes of Icons Club every week. Shows will be released on Tuesdays and Fridays.
