A former Trump staffer has been hired at CBS News and some employees reportedly aren’t happy with the decision. On Tuesday, the network announced that Mick Mulvaney had been hired as a contributor.
According to The Washington Post, unnamed CBS News journalists are angry because they believe Mulvaney attacked media outlets over coverage of the early days of the pandemic.
“I know everyone I talked to today was embarrassed about the hiring,” one anonymous employee told the Post.
Mulvaney had previously served as director of the Office of Budget Management after a stint as a congressman from South Carolina. The company rolled out its debut during its online morning news program, “CBS Mornings.”
Post columnist Jennifer Rubin called for the network’s co-president Neeraj Khemlani to be canned. Adding, Khemlani was making, “CBS even more marginal in news biz than it already is.”
“If you look at some of the people that we’ve been hiring on a contributor basis, being able to make sure that we are getting access to both sides of the aisle is a priority because we know the Republicans are going to take over, most likely, in the midterms,” Khemlani reportedly told employees.
