Ted Davis says he is no longer part of the midday show on 97.3 The Game. He took to Facebook over the weekend to say that his role at iHeartMedia is changing. He will now handle fill-in duties when regular hosts take vacations.
Davis retired as the play-by-play voice of the Milwaukee Bucks after last year’s championship. He said that at that time, he and his family chose to move back to Texas. Now that The Game is the Milwaukee affiliate of the Packers, the station is prioritizing having its full-time voices all in the state of Wisconsin.
He detailed his full-time plans for the future on Facebook.
“I have been hired by Schreiner University to be the Voice of the School with Play by Play for Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Baseball, Softball, and Volleyball,” Ted Davis wrote. “In addition they want me to help them start a Broadcast Course at Schreiner, so this Fall I will be Teaching. Call me Professor Davis!”
Sports fans in Wisconsin were very familiar with Davis. He had worked for the Bucks since 1997 and he acknowledged that he misses doing that and hopes to be able to tell the story of why that ended soon.
The midday show on The Game has been rebranded on the station’s website as The Heller Show.
