George Plaster is one of the iconic names in sports talk radio in the state of Tennessee. According to the Tennesean’s Mike Organ, Plaster is leaving the terrestrial airwaves this summer.
Organ reports that Plaster is headed to Main Street Media. His sports talk show will air as a video product on the company’s digital platforms including its OTT channel, YouTube, and social accounts. New episodes will stream live every weekday from 4-6 pm.
“We couldn’t be more excited about having George join Main Street Media,” Dave Gould, founder and owner of Main Street Media of Tennessee, told Organ. “George is a Nashville sports icon, and we believe our audience will really enjoy listening to him and the shows we have planned.”
Currently airing on WNSR, The George Plaster Show has been on every sports radio outlet in Nashville. The show debuted in 1989. Plaster’s run at WNSR began when Plaster returned to sports radio in 2019 after a stint working for Belmont University’s Athletic Department.
In addition to his eponymous show, George Plaster will host other specialty shows for Main Street Media.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to join Watson Brown in this new venture,” Plaster said. “I am really impressed with Main Street Media; it’s an incredible media story. I also want to say a big thank you to Ted Johnson and the WNSR staff for a really fun sports talk experience. I can’t wait to get started at Main Street Media.”
