Not only has Pat McAfee proven that he is very good on a microphone, but he has also shown over and over again that he knows how to attract an audience. It makes sense then that as Thursday Night Football gets set to move to Amazon’s Prime Video, the tech giant would want to talk to him about being involved.
McAfee discussed joining the booth with Amazon before the company hired Kirk Herbstreit. Those conversations apparently aren’t over. Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post reports that the two sides are still in discussion.
Glasspiegel’s source says nothing has been finalized, but there is a lot on the table. Not only is the role on Thursday Night Football a possibility, but The Pat McAfee Show is on the table. Amazon has shown interest in adding the show to its new studio lineup.
A pairing of McAfee and Herbstreit would make a lot of sense. The two clearly like each other and work well together. That has been on display when Pat McAfee appears on College GameDay.
Earlier this week, McAfee tweeted that he was “1000% up to something.” We don’t know if it is related to Glasspiegel’s story, but signing a deal with Amazon to join the Thursday Night Football broadcast would certainly qualify.
