America’s newest 24/7 news channel has hired a former senior producer at the Black News Channel to lead its team.
According to a news release, NEWSnet has named Phil Hendrix as the network’s news director; the announcement came during the NAB Show in Las Vegas this week. Hendrix brings more than 25 years of television experience to the network.
“He will be an instrumental part of our network’s growth in the coming months,” said Eric Wotila, president of NEWSnet.
NEWSnet recently spent millions of dollars to fund a new studio and build its stable of talent.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to do news the way it should be done,” Hendrix said. “The mantra of ‘news the way it used to be’ rings true to me because I believe in telling people what they need to know, without all of the extras.”
NEWSnet is owned by Indian American billionaire and philanthropist, Manoj Bhargava. He also owns 5-hour Energy and is one of the largest shareholders of Gray Television.
Hendrix will be tasked with managing the newsroom and helping to maintain NewsNet’s integrity in covering hard news topics
