Troy Aikman and Joe Buck made an appearance on Good Morning America on Monday. Although the release of the entire 2022 NFL schedule doesn’t happen until later this week, the pair revealed that Disney’s networks will be working overtime for Week 2 of Monday Night Football.
Both ESPN and ABC will have a game that night. ESPN will handle the early kick between Tennessee and Buffalo at 7:15. At 8:30, ABC will carry the Vikings’ visit to Philadelphia. They did not reveal which broadcasters would work which game.
TJ Holmes introduced Aikman and Buck by asking if they felt like they were the “biggest acquisitions of the NFL offseason.”
“Hey, we’ll take it,” Aikman said. “Biggest acquisition? That’s got a nice ring to it. We’re not gonna argue with that one.”
Although the duo is on a new network, 2022 will be the 21st year of Buck’s and Aikman’s partnership. Holmes asked if there was ever a thought that their run may be coming to an end when Aikman announced he was leaving FOX for ESPN.
Buck said he did consider that it was a possibility but wanted to continue working together and was happy to hear ESPN felt the same way.
“We love working together, and I guess that kinda shows since we jumped ship at the same time,” Buck joked.
The full NFL schedule will be released on Thursday night. Both ESPN2 and the NFL Network will air primetime specials. The league’s slate of five international games was revealed last week. Select matchups will be revealed in the days ahead.
