Jason Garrett Candidate For Spot In NBC’s Notre Dame Booth

NBC must be happy with what it has seen from Jason Garrett during its coverage of the first season of the new USFL. The network is reportedly considering using the former Cowboys coach in all of the ways it did Drew Brees last year.

Andrew Marchand of the New York Post reports that Garrett is a candidate to be a studio analyst on Football Night in America and the game analyst for the network’s coverage of Notre Dame football.

The entire USFL broadcast must be well received at 30 Rock, because Marchand notes that Jac Collinsworth, who is Garrett’s partner in the booth, is being considered as the new play-by-play voice of the Irish on NBC.

Drew Brees left the network in May. Marchand reported that he was more interested in broadcasting games than working in a studio. With Cris Collinsworth locked up for the long term, that was not going to happen any time soon. Brees remains a free agent and has even flirted with the idea of returning to the New Orleans Saints in 2022.

Marchand writes that he reached out to NBC, who declined to comment for the story. He also reached out to Jason Garrett, but the former coach did not return his message.
