Every year, the College World Series happens in Omaha. It makes sense that an Omaha-based media company play a role in the rest of the nation being able to follow the action.
Westwood One and NRG Media have announced an extension to their partnership. NRG and its sports station 1620 The Zone will continue to produce radio coverage of the event for Westwood One.
The new deal runs through the next five College World Series.
“NRG Media and 1620 The Zone have been a terrific affiliate for a long time, and we look forward to continuing the partnership for the next five years”, Howard Deneroff, EVP and Executive Producer for Westwood One Sports said in a press release.
The deal will also see an extension in the programming agreement between Westwood One and 1620 The Zone. The radio station will continue airing Westwood One’s coverage of both the Men’s and Women’s Final Four through 2026.
“We are extremely excited to continue our partnership with Westwood One Sports as the Omaha home for the Men’s College World Series, one of the best sporting events every year,” NRG General Manager Mark Shecterle said. “Westwood One Sports and the NCAA have been great partners, and we look forward to another five years of carrying the Men’s College World Series.”
