Robert Feder has reported on the Chicago media scene for 42 years, but the veteran reporter is scaling back his workload significantly. Feder is stepping away from the beat and concluding his tenure with the Daily Herald.
However, Feder stated that his website, RogerFeder.com, will continue online, but his weekly columns are coming to an end. Also, he made it clear that he’s not retiring but taking a break during the summer months to recharge the batteries and prepare for whatever is to come.
“I’m not retiring, and I’m not going away. You can still follow me on Twitter and Facebook, where I’ll keep you posted on what I’m up to and perhaps break some news from time to time,” Feder said in a statement.
“Before I can take on new opportunities with my full energy and dedication, I need to withdraw from the responsibility of writing a daily column and covering a beat 24/7.”
Despite not retiring, Feder doesn’t know what’s next for his career after taking some time off this summer, but the uncertainty for him is what’s the most exciting aspect.
“I can’t tell you what I’m going to do next because I don’t know. To me, that’s the most exciting part. After taking time off this summer to decompress, I’m confident I’ll find new projects to pursue and new ways to engage my curiosity,” Feder concluded.
