Colin Cowherd Says He Was Invited to LIV Golf Event

After Charles Barkley confirmed he would participate in a LIV Golf Pro-Am event, Colin Cowherd made an admission about overtures the upstart tour has made to him.

“Do you know, not to name drop, who contacted me four days ago?” Cowherd asked Jason McIntyre, who was filling in for Joy Taylor Thursday.

“I’m gonna go Charles Barkley,” McIntyre assumed.

“No. Greg Norman’s people,” Cowherd replied. “They want me to go to a LIV Golf event. My schedule doesn’t match up, but Greg has appreciated our support. And his people.”

“Look at you breaking news,” McIntyre exclaimed. “This is as big as the Kyler Murray news!” he joked.

Cowherd has been an ardent supporter of golfers leaving the PGA Tour. In June, he slammed the PGA Tour, and defended the defectors.

LIV Golf, the controversial tour put together by the Public Investment Fund from the Saudi Arabian government, has been the subject of much media intrigue this spring and summer. Pat McAfee has pointed out the hypocrisy surrounding the series. David Fehrety left NBC’s PGA Tour coverage to join LIV. And, the series has courted Charles Barkley as a commentator and currently employs former NBC soccer announcer Arlo White as their main play-by-play announcer.
