After months away from the cable news scene, former CNN host Chris Cuomo will return to television screens as he joins NewsNation as a prime time anchor this fall.
The announcement of Cuomo’s arrival at the company was announced live on air following his interview with Dan Abrams on his NewsNation program “Dan Abrams Live.”
“NewsNation believes in the work I am doing with the Chris Cuomo Project, and I look forward to building something special here,” Cuomo said, per Mediaite.
“Covering news wherever it happens and having conversations that cater to common concerns and solutions rather than political parties or the political circus.”
By adding Cuomo, NewsNation is taking another gamble as t hopes to boost the recognizable hosts as they already have Leland Vittert, Ashleigh Banfield, and Dan Abrams.
“Chris joins our growing team of seasoned, award-winning journalists and will further our efforts to continue to ensure fairness and transparency in our news reporting and talk shows,” said Sean Compton, Nexstar Media’s president of networks, in a statement.
The former CNN host now will attempt to look forward rather than continue to answer questions from his former employer.
