Chis Cuomo is returning to television screens as the former CNN host has joined NewsNation and will make his debut in the fall; however, his arrival to his new network is seeing him take a hit in the wallet.
The New York Post reported on Wednesday that Cuomo would not be making a $6 million per year salary, which he made during his time as host of the “Cuomo Prime Time” show on CNN. At NewsNation, the 51-year-old is speculated the figure could be around $1 million.
“I don’t think he had a lot of leverage,” one source told The Post regarding Cuomo’s contract. “He’s damaged goods.”
NewsNation rejected to comment to the newspaper on Cuomo’s compensation. Nonetheless, the network is excited to have the veteran news host join the lineup, which already features some recognizable names.
“Chris joins our growing team of seasoned, award-winning journalists and will further our efforts to continue to ensure fairness and transparency in our news reporting and talk shows,” said Sean Compton, Nexstar Media’s president of networks, in a statement.
