Writer and broadcaster Jason Whitlock said comedian Dave Chapelle is caught in the crosshairs of a culture war that includes the Democrat party trying to cancel anybody who speaks out about its ongoing “satanic movement.”
The “Fearless” host addressed recent attempts by a Minnesota theatre to cancel Chapelle who has a reputation for speaking out about the LGBTQ+ community. Whitlock added that ministers are under the same kind of pressure to conform to the movement.
“His {Chapelle] comedy is about critiquing popular culture,” said Whitlock on episode #252 of “Fearless with Jason Whitlock.”
Whitlock compared Chapelle’s work as a comedian who analyzes and makes fun of popular culture to that of a minister because they create a safe space and environment where people can have uncomfortable conversations.
“Comedians and ministers protect free speech and truth and the public square,” said Whitlock. “That’s why ministers and comedians are under attack.”
Whitlock said he was inspired to discuss how comedy and religion intersect following a conversation Dr. Tony Evans who told Whitlock that said will descend into “hell” if we are not willing to have difficult conversations.
“I’m about drawing a line in the sand; I’m about criticizing and exposing the culture because I understand power and necessity for confession,” he added.
