Media personality Megyn Kelly is facing claims that she “trapped” embattled commentator Alex Jones into talking about the Sandy Hook school massacre during a television interview several years ago
According to the New York Post, Jones’ producer Daria Karpova testified last week during a defamation trial brought by the parents of one of the children who were killed in the attack.
“I believe that was when Megyn Kelly had reached out to Alex Jones, asking him to appear on her show,” Karpova said in a video posted on Mediate.
Karpova alleged that Kelly duped Jones into thinking that Sandy Hook would not be discussed.
“She convinced him that this was gonna be a friendly interview — that Sandy Hook was not gonna come up and that, um, it — she just wanted to get to know him as a personality and as a man,” she said.
According to the New York Times, the 17-minute segment which aired on NBC generated hundreds of complaints. At the time, the NBC affiliate in Connecticut would not air the segment. Former New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio accused Kelly of encouraging Jones with her reporting.
“She made it all to be about Sandy Hook and she was trapped — she set a trap for him that he fell into,” added Karpova.
