Stephen A. Smith has been on hiatus from First Take while recovering from a shoulder surgery he revealed a few weeks ago. Smith has been off of the show since the day after the NBA Draft, June 24. But there was one topic that spurned Smith to break his hiatus today, and it was Deshaun Watson’s suspension.
Smith phoned into First Take for a brief appearance to deliver his opinion on Watson being suspended for six games as recommended by an arbitrator between the NFL and the NFLPA.
Smith began by thanking Ryan Clark and company for being on the show, then he gave his opinion which included, “The NFL has gone through extraordinary lengths to try to do what law enforcement is supposed to do. That’s my problem with all of this. Where there’s smoke there’s fire.”
Smith recently stated that he will be back on First Take, in-studio, on August 15.
