Fox News Original Host Uma Pemmaraju Dies at 64

Fox News lost one of its original hosts as Uma Pemmaraju died at 64. In Oct. 1996, she was one of a handful of anchors who helped launch the network. 

Over Pemmaraju’s stint with the company, she anchored news shows such as Fox News Now, Fox On Trends, weekend editions of Fox News Live, and The Fox Report.

“We are deeply saddened by the death of Uma Pemmaraju, who was one of Fox News Channel’s founding anchors and was on the air the day we launched,” Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said in a statement to FoxNews.com on Tuesday.

“Uma was an incredibly talented journalist as well as a warm and lovely person, best known for her kindness to everyone she worked with. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her entire family.”

Throughout her career, Pemmaraju received numerous Emmy awards for her reporting and investigative journalism. 

In addition, she received the Texas AP Award for reporting, The Woman of Achievement Award from the Big Sisters Organization of America, and the Matrix Award from Women in Communications.
