We may have more answers on how Sean Payton will be integrated into FOX NFL Sunday telecasts this Fall. Jimmy Johnson discussed a myriad of topics with the Miami Herald and said that there will be weeks he’s not on the set or on the show.
Johnson, 79, spoke with Jordan McPherson of the Miami Hearld and answered a question about broadcasting remotely this fall.
“For doubleheaders, I’ll be in Los Angeles [in the studio] and obviously for playoff games and on Veterans day when we go to Doha, Qatar,” Johnson said.
Johnson would add, “On single-headers, I’ll do it remotely from the Keys, and occasionally Sean Payton will jump in my seat.”
This seems like the first hint we have heard about Payton’s role outside of being a “in-studio” analyst. Will Payton literally move to Johnson’s seat during those week’s he is gone? Does this leave the possibility for a part-time role for Johnson and Payton? The season is just a few weeks away with answers.
