David Cone is in his first year working alongside Karl Ravech for ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball, and WFAN’s morning host Boomer Esiason wants to hear from Cone more during the broadcasts.
“He does a great job, but on Sunday Night Baseball, he says like one word every third inning. I wanna hear more from him,” Esiason said Tuesday morning during Boomer & Gio.
Esiason noted Cone probably speaks more during New York Yankees games on YES Network due to a familiarity with announcer Michael Kay, and it’s a feeling out process with Ravech, but he noted it’s a rare occasion to want to hear from an announcer more frequently.
“I’m not being critical cause he talks too much, I’m being critical because he doesn’t talk enough. He’s got a lot to offer,” Esiason added. “I’m not saying that he’s not good. I’m saying that he doesn’t talk enough, for me.”
“So you want David Cone to step it up and start blathering more on Sunday Night Baseball?”, co-host Gregg Giannotti asked.
“10-percent more. That’s all,” concluded Esiason.
