CNN Reportedly Has No Plans for a Media Beat Show

It’s been over a week since CNN pulled the plug on “Reliable Sources,” leading to the ouster of host Brian Stelter. Chris Licht, the network’s new CEO, continues to mold the cable news channel in his vision.

After canceling the media show, the next question that many will ask is whether Licht will have his vision of a similar program. TheWrap reported on Friday that CNN has no plans to have a show centered around the media.

“There are a number of programs in the concept and development phases, and it’s possible media coverage will be an element of a show,” a network insider said, “but no indication that an exclusively media beat show is part of the plan.”

In his final “Reliable Sources” show, Stelter called on viewers to hold the media accountable. Furthermore, the former host said that the country needs CNN to be a vital player in the news media world.

“I believe America needs CNN to be strong,” Stelter said. “And they will continue to be, because all of us are going to help make that happen. The free world needs a reliable source.”
