“Dateline” will provide premium content as they look to cash in a genre the NBC program was at the forefront of, true crime (h/t Variety).
On Monday, NBC stated that they’re launching Dateline Premium, a new subscription on Apple Podcasts providing ad-free access to more than 400 hours of exclusive audio programming.
The new subscription service from NBC will cost $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year following a seven-day free trial.
Dateline Premium subscribers will also receive monthly bonus episodes, with the first dropping on Sept. 1. Additionally, subscribers can listen to new “Dateline” podcasts before anyone else.
As a result, subscribers will be the first to listen to the upcoming “Internal Affairs” six-episode series following “Dateline” correspondent Josh Mankiewicz’s reporting on a deadly romantic fling in a police department in northern Colorado.
Listeners can tune in to the series starting Sept. 13 if they’re Dateline Premium subscribers before it is generally available on Sept. 20.
Dateline Premium will be available in 170 countries and regions on the Dateline NBC channel. The podcast subscription debuts before the network’s Season 31 premiere of “Dateline” on Friday, Sept. 16, at 9 p.m. ET.
