SportsRadio 850 has removed it’s sports programming from the Norfolk station and its translators 96.5 Hampton and 96.5 Norfolk.
Earlier on Friday, the station began stunting while running a loop of construction sounds and Justin Timberlake’s song “Sexy Back”. A source in the market tells BSM that the new station owned by Sinclair Communications may use the moniker “Judy”.
Max Media, a competitor in the market, dropped the Top 40 format on their 100.1 signal, known at the time as Hot 100. It is now carrying an Urban AC format as 100.5 The Vibe.
WTAR featured the national FOX Sports Radio lineup with the only local programming being a Saturday morning program hosted by J Lee.
WTAR carried Washington Commanders football, NASCAR and University of Virginia athletics.
Terrible decision—loved Fox sports
WTH!!!! Where can a person go to hear sports DANG !! I so listened to 2 pros and a cup of joe every day, Big Ben Miller and so on, so very disappointed ????
This is a horrible decision. I would listen every morning whether home or on the road. You have driven away thousands of sports fans including me. Very bad decision.
