Mike and The Mad Dog have reunited. For a podcast episode. In his latest episode The Mike Francesa Podcast, the longtime WFAN host congratulated his former partner Chris “Mad Dog” Russo for his induction into the Radio Hall of Fame to begin the episode.

“Congratulations, publicly, for your which will come in Chicago in November, right in the middle of the World Series for you,” Francesa joked. “A spot in the Radio Hall of Fame. When you heard, what was your reaction?”

“I heard Mike right after a doubles less in tennis — 50 and over — at the New Canaan Field Club so I was all upset,” Mad Dog said. “So on the way home on July 15th they called me and I said to hell with tennis. I was very excited about it. I was very happy that it happened. I know that you got in there four or five years ago but I’m gonna miss a couple of games of the World Series because you told me when we talked back in July to enjoy it.”

“Absolutely. You have to go,” Francesa replied.

“Listen, you never know. Those are quirky votes,” Russo mentioned. “You know that better than anyone. You never know what they’re thinking, the folks on the board. Very excited about it. I bought a couple of tables. I’m gonna take all my wife’s family. It meant more to me than I thought it would…I didn’t really wanna think too much of it. It kind of hit me quick. Finally. It’s meant a lot to me, I have to admit.”

“Well deserved. A long time coming,” Francesa said before revealing he and Mad Dog saw each other last week under sad circumstances, after the son of their former contributor Bob Heussler died.

Mike and the Mad Dog discussed several topics during the episode, including their predictions for the upcoming NFL season, and who would play in Super Bowl LVII.
