Blaze TV’s Jason Whitlock was surprised to learn that Meghan Markle briefly grabbed the top position on Spotify’s podcast charts.
Whitlock was filling in for Glenn Beck Friday when the conversation turned to the Royal Family and the Duchess of Sussex.
“I guarantee you in a week or two those ratings are going to come down to earth,” said Whitlock. “She probably gets an extra boost because she’s relatively new or brand new as opposed to Joe Rogan.”
According to The Wrap, Markle’s new podcast “Archetypes” was number one on Spotify charts in Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
Whitlock said that he doesn’t get America’s appetite for content related to royalty.
“I thought that was part of the reason we got away from royalty,” he said. “I don’t get the obsession with royalty but I’m also not sitting around rooting for an excruciating death.”
Whitlock was referring to a recent tweet from a Nigerian Carnegie Mellon professor who drew widespread criticism for her tweet just hours after Queen Elizabeth II passed away.
