Ben Shapiro fired off a statement regarding the military that some found controversial. The Daily Wire founder argued the U.S. military is suffering because the country has dumped “traditional masculinity.”
Shapiro noted that, in his opinion, wars are best combated by what he characterized as “typically very patriotic, very male people.”
“Now, I’m sorry to break it to you, but this has been the truth about military warfare for literally all of human history,” Shapiro said. “We’re a society that doesn’t believe in traditional masculinity.”
“Traditional masculinity is an opponent. Because traditional masculinity requires roles.”
There was plenty of reaction to Shapiro’s remarks, including from “The Young Turks” host Cenk Uygur, who fired back by saying plenty of nations allow women in their military, including Israel.
“I can’t believe that @benshapiro is calling the Israel Defense Forces weak,” Uygur tweeted on Monday. “They allow women into their military and thereby ruin it, according to Ben. Hope word doesn’t get out in the region.”
Uygur wasn’t alone in his criticism of Shapiro for his take, as many decided to share their opinion attempting to debunk what The Daily Wire found stated.
