WCBS Newsradio 880 Brand Manager and News Director Tim Scheld is stepping down from his post.
In a note to staffers, Scheld said the timing was perfect for him to step aside. He noted the day had been on his radar for several months, but said with a new agreement with SAG-AFTRA, Audacy is about to roll out a new strategy that combines “the resources and power” of WCBS 880 and 1010 WINS.
“I feel enormously privileged to have helped lead the news team at one of the best news operations in America,” Scheld added. “My best to all of you. I have loved every minute of it.” He also thanked Audacy New York Market President Chris Oliviero for his “guidance and support”, saying “New York is in great hands”.
Scheld was recently appointed the Chair of the Radio Television Digital News Association. He is the first chair to represent radio since 2019.
Scheld had served as the Brand Manager and News Director at WCBS for the past 19 years.
