Fox News reporter Trey Yingst told Shannon Bream Sunday that he was one of the first journalists to enter a village that was liberated by Ukrainian troops just days earlier.

FNC journalists have faced imminent danger while covering the war in Ukraine. In March, cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski was killed in Horenka while newsgathering with Benjamin Hall.

Hall was severely injured and had to be rescued by a team of trauma surgeons, special operations veterans, and intelligence community veterans.

“The village of Hlushkivka was liberated by Ukrainian troops just three days ago,” said Yingst. “Yesterday we were the first group of journalists to enter this village amid ongoing battles.”

Yingst spoke with a woman in the village, amid artillery fire and the body of a Russian soldier next to her yard. Yingst also went inside a government building in the nearby city of Kupyansk that was used by the Russians when they occupied this area for 7 months.

Video from Fox News indicated fierce fighting off in the distance. Graphic images purported to show the body of a civilian. Yingst explained how fighting in and around Hlushkivka has escalated.

“Shattered windows are battered buildings lined the streets,” he added.

Yingst joined the Fox News international correspondent team in 2018. He’s been covering the war in Ukraine since Russian President Vladimir Putin launched his attack in February of 2022.
