Mary Katherine Ham claimed in a Substack newsletter last week that she was suspended earlier this year after slamming CNN reporter Andrew Kaczynski and former contributor Jeffrey Toobin.
“I was told it was Jeff Zucker, now gone, who put this order in place and a deputy, also gone, who kept it there,” she wrote.
“I was also told I wasn’t informed of the network’s displeasure because I had just had a baby and someone in the old leadership thought I might be a ‘loose cannon.’ Not as loose as Toobin’s, but I digress.”
Ham’s newsletter detailing her accounts of the situation drew praise from Fox News’ media reporter Howard Kurtz.
“Mary Katherine said she was treated unfairly and refuses to shut up about it,” Kurtz said during his “Media Buzz” show. “Good for her!”
Kurtz reiterated his sentiment with a tweet Monday.
“CNN’s handling of Mary Katharine Ham – especially the stereotype that she couldn’t be told of her absurd suspension because she’d just had a baby – was outrageously unfair,” Kurtz added.
