The New York Yankees are traditionally Major League Baseball’s biggest draw. Also, the return of Bob Costas as the play-by-play announcer added extra interest from casual fans.

Its the fourth highest Division Sseries opener in the past decade, trailing the aforementioned Yankees/Red Sox matchup in 2018, the 2016 NLDS opener between the San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs, and the 2015 matchup between the Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals.

The opener of the NLDS between the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers, which aired on FS1, saw an audience of 2.43 million viewers.
