Jordan Rodgers Jokingly Defends SEC Network From Greg McElroy’s Criticism

A day after he jokingly criticized his radio partner Cole Cubelic for eating a donut burger during a tight SEC game Saturday night, Greg McElroy heard from SEC Network analyst Jordan Rodgers.

“Here’s my issue Greg: For starters, the disrespect. I was a Bachelorette contestant. Not a Bachelor contestant,” Rodgers said while McElroy chuckled. “So get it right. Do not sully my name with that kind of disrespect. I was not cool enough to be the one to select one of 25.”

Rodgers was a bigger culprit than Cubelic for sampling food from the South Carolina State Fair, as the former Vanderbilt quarterback double fisted a two-foot long corn dog and a smoked turkey leg inside the broadcast booth. McElroy, however, was forced to reiterate his Monday rant was all in jest.

“The best part is, there are a lot of people out there who think this was some rant,” McElroy said. “I thought the tip of the hand of me saying Bachelor contestant was a dead giveaway that we’re joking around. And, in addition to that, saying that Cubelic needs to quinoa and/or acai on the sideline to send the right message because we’re over indulging as an American society. I thought people could see through that, but obviously they just can’t. That’s where we’re at right now, we’re just a bunch of wrestling heals on Mac and Cube.”

“I think the real issue, Greg, and I know you and Tess (Joe Tessitore) don’t understand this: Us at the SEC Weekend, we’re building a global brand,” Rodgers joked. “We’re actually rebranding ourselves. We’re gonna be Prestige Worldwide moving forward because we have an international following. And that’s the issue your small brain is not understanding. We can’t just cater to the college football fan. We can’t just cater to people who want to see what’s happening during the games. We are entertainers and so that’s what we have to be. I know it’s new and it’s scary, but that’s just the way the world is moving.”
