Former Pittsburgh talk radio host Kevin Battle felt very much at home Sunday. Ten weeks after he was abruptly fired at KDKA Newsradio, Battle was back on the airwaves for what he called a live “audition” at WCBM 680 in Baltimore.
Battle, a native Pittsburgher, was hired at KDKA in 2020 following a stint at Fox News Radio in New York. His radio career began after he graduated from the Clarion University of Pennsylvania. He was hired by Clear Channel Pittsburgh to work at its six-station cluster doing production and promotions.
In August, Battle’s contract at KDKA was unexpectedly terminated. He was a casualty of a series of nationwide layoffs that affected several radio stations owned by Audacy.
“It was a thrill to be back on the air and an honor to join WCBM in Baltimore,” Battle told Barrett News Media. “After 10 weeks off my adrenaline rocketed me through the hour. I was way over-prepared with enough content for 10 shows. I look forward to doing many more for WCBM and the listeners in Charm City. I cannot thank them enough.”
