CNN This Morning co-host Don Lemon was a guest on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Monday, and Colbert asked several questions about how the network is proceeding under the direction of new CEO Chris Licht.
One of the questions Colbert asked was about Licht’s reported anti-drinking message to the network’s cast during its upcoming New Years Eve telecast, which Lemon said was going to get him in trouble. Lemon said he and Licht had a bet about whether any conversation between the Lemon and Colbert about the CEO would make it on the air.
“You’re going to get me in trouble,” Lemon said.
“He doesn’t work here anymore, he can’t stop me from doing shit,” Colbert countered.
“He said ‘If you talk about me, it’ll never make air. Because who cares who I am?’ I said ‘Well, you’re a different Chris Licht than you were when you worked here’,” Lemon added.
“Yeah. No one cared about him when he worked here,” admitted Colbert. “But now he’s a media mogul.”
The two then pretended it was New Year’s Eve and jokingly grabbed a drink before Lemon asked Colbert questions about his new CEO.
“So, what should I know about Chris Licht?,” Lemon asked. “Give me some advice. I should have done this before I came out.”
“When he was in high school, he was a radio DJ on a classic rock station, and went by the name ‘The Licht-man’. There’s so much more to talk about,” Colbert concluded after saying he was told to end the interview by his producers.
