Major League Soccer has announced a new four-year deal with FOX Sports that will continue to see MLS air on the family of networks, ending a longstanding relationship the league had with ESPN.
34 regular season and 8 playoff matches each season will air across FOX Sports, FS1, and FOX Deportes. The deal also adds 15 regular season matches on FOX, the most ever by an English-language network in league history.
The MLS Cup will continue to air each year on FOX, as well as FOX Deportes.
The deal compliments the landmark decision by MLS to partner with Apple for MLS Season Pass, which will be make every MLS match available to fans with no blackout restrictions.
“These broadcast industry leaders continue to demonstrate their deep commitment to MLS and soccer,” MLS Commissioner Don Garber said. “Our linear agreements, along with our partnership with Apple, are the culmination of a series of collaborative discussions to provide our fans with the most expansive and accessible lineup of programming MLS and our sport in the U.S. and Canada have ever seen – and by a significant margin.”
The deal runs from 2023 through the conclusion of the 2026 season, where FOX Sports will also air the World Cup, hosted by the US, Mexico, and Canada.
The deal also removes ESPN from the linear television package of Major League Soccer for the first time since the league’s inception in 1996.
