Daily Wire co-founder Ben Shapiro said Twitter is moving into a new phase under Elon Musk. On his nationally syndicated show Wednesday, Shapiro lauded Musk for recent changes including disbanding Twitter’s legal department.
“The Trust and Safety Council was this Orwellian body that decided who could stay and who could not stay on the basis of vague, undefined standards,” said Shapiro.
Last week, The New York Post reported that Elon Musk fired Twitter’s deputy general counsel, James Baker, over his alleged suppression of internal documents about blocking The Post’s Hunter Biden laptop.
“Musk is moving fast and breaking things,” said Shapiro. “He has fired 80 percent of Twitter’s employee base, which dramatically lowers their cost, the traffic and engagement on Twitter is way up. It should be, you’re not getting the curated views, instead you’re openly allowed to express your views.”
Shapiro said the main difference between the Elon Musk-led Twitter and the former administration is accountability.
“If Musk decides to ban Ye, a decision I don’t agree with even though he is a raging antisemite and a mentally ill person, then he takes the hit for that. Which is the way it’s supposed to work. The head of the company is always where the buck stops.”
“When Jack Dorsey was running the place he was off vacationing and meanwhile his middle management Yoel Roth and Vijaya Gadde were deciding who would get banned and then blame it on the algorithms,” he added.
