The January 6th Committee met for the final time Monday, and recommended criminal charges be brought against former President Donald Trump for his role in the 2020 insurrection. That was not a popular decision in conservative media circles. While 77WABC host Greg Kelly wasn’t happy about the recommendation, he was also not thrilled with the way the media and the way television broadcasting played a role in the hearings.
In a discussion on the topic with Bill O’Reilly, Kelly claimed the Democratic National Committee owed the January 6th Committee lots of money for the “free advertising” it did for the political party through the media.
“We know the media are corrupt, we know they lean left, we know all that stuff. But somebody somewhere outside of our side of the fence — by the way, very few people on our side of the fence are doing it,” said Kelly. They get very uncomfortable when January 6th comes up, but there should be a pushback. There should be, and there hasn’t been. There’s gotta be some sane people out there. I’m sorry, but you can’t use the public airwaves like this. This is campaign stuff, overt political stuff.”
O’Reilly later added only liberal media outlets would cover the recommendation seriously, while adding Fox News would probably mock the news.
