The conversation about the Twitter Files has been all over news/talk radio shows since independent journalist Matt Taibbi broke the story nearly three weeks ago.
On Tuesday, journalist Lee Fang posted a 21-tweet thread that focused on exposing Twitter’s partnership with the Pentagon.
Many conservative pundits believe the suppression and erosion of free speech is the single most important topic of our lifetime. Taibbi’s first installment of the files revealed the steps taken by Twitter to moderate content that involved the Hunter Biden laptop story.
Nationally syndicated host Rich Valdes, who took over for the late Jim Bohannon said Tuesday that he was shocked to learn about the depth of the relationship between the government and Twitter.
“The fact that we have people in power, in particular within our government, using their government authority to pressure and sway, and have influence over private industry, in particular the media, is egregious,” he said.
Valdes said two years ago he was told by a colleague that Twitter was nothing, but a “fabrication” created by the U.S. government to disseminate favorable information for them.
“Lo and behold, today that story sounds so much truer,” he said. “I’m not saying that it is but if someone said that to you today you would not tell them they were a looney tune or a conspiracy theorist.”
“This eighth round of Twitter files released on Tuesday, now have a specific focus on Twitter’s role in directly assisting the United States military’s influence operations.”
