Dan Bickley: J.J. Watt Will Have a Broadcasting Job if He Wants One

This NFL season will be the last one for JJ Watt. The Cardinals’ defensive end announced on social media Tuesday morning that he will retire after the team’s final game.

What does the future hold for JJ Watt? He has proven throughout his entire career to be media savvy. Dan Bickley said that the future hall of famer could easily have a career on TV if that is his goal.

“He’s probably got a lot of football opportunity in front of him if he wants it broadcasting,” Bickley said on Arizona Sports 98.7.

JJ Watt was a favorite guest of The Dan Patrick Show during his time with the Houston Texans. He was also a frequent interview subject for network pregame shows on Sunday mornings. He has plenty of experience in front of a camera.

Watt also proved to be good at cultivating media relationships. He gave many local media members signed jerseys as thank you gifts when he left Houston for Phoenix before the 2021 season.

Vince Marotta, Dan Bickley’s partner, added that Watt had been a valuable addition to the Cardinals’ roster, even as the team has mostly disappointed fans. He added that Watt’s performance and his reputation are everything networks could want in a star analyst.

“He’s a transcendent superstar and he has been all that. He has lived up to everything we heard and hoped he was prior to coming to Arizona,” Marotta said.
