Clay Travis Reacts To Pundits Trying To Cancel Football

Outkick founder Clay Travis said he isn’t shocked that some mainstream media pundits are trying to cancel the sport of football in the wake of Darmar Hamlin’s cardiac arrest. The Bills’ safety collapsed Monday after a violent collision with Bengals’ receiver Tee Higgins.

Travis appeared on Outnumbered with Harris Faulkner Thursday. Travis acknowledged that football is “hyper-masculine” and “violent” but said the reason left-wing commentators can’t stand it is that the sport is played mostly by men.

“This is part and parcel of their war on masculinity in general,” Travis said. “it’s not a coincidence that The View or MSNBC or CNN has this discussion.”

According to The New York Post, The View’s Joy Behar said conservatives and heterosexual men are more likely to support tackle football.

“45% of Americans think that tackle football is appropriate. Heterosexual men voted the most support for kids doing football. And conservatives were more likely to support youth tackle football. Just saying,” Behar said.

Travis said some pundits have embraced Colin Kaepernick who famously compared the NFL Draft to a slave auction.

“You aren’t required to play in the NFL just like you aren’t required to box or be involved in a UFC fight,” he said. “These guys are highly paid; they understand better than anyone the risks that they are assuming.”
