Former Texas politician Mayra Flores has been hired as a Senior Political Contributor at Americano Media. In June 2022, Flores won a special election in Texas’s 34th congressional district after Democratic Representative Filemon Vela Jr. resigned.
According to Yahoo, Flores will provide daily commentary on Americano’s news and opinion programs. Americano Media is the first-ever nationwide conservative Spanish Network, airing 18 hours of original news and opinion programming every weekday. The company syndicates its content with Audacy’s Radio Libre 790AM in Miami.
“I am proud to join Americano Media, a truly important new development in the Spanish language media arena,” Rep. Flores said in a statement. “Hispanics are family-oriented, hardworking and conservative by nature, and I am excited to amplify their views in a more fulsome discussion where both sides are heard on issues important to our community.”
Flores was the first Mexican-born female member of the House. The district was reconfigured or “gerrymandered,” which contributed to her November loss.
“Mayra’s story is America’s story, and in many ways she’s also Americano’s story, so you can imagine how exciting this is for our company,” Americano Media founder and CEO Ivan Garcia-Hidalgo told Yahoo.
Americano Media was founded in 2022 to serve U.S. Hispanics, reportedly the fastest population in America. Learn more about Americano Media by clicking here.
