Drama unfolded over the Atlantic Ocean Saturday as FOX News captured a Chinese spy balloon being shot down by the U.S. Military. The balloon made its way across much of the country last week and was the trendiest topic on Twitter Saturday as it floated over the Carolinas.
“We have a live shot now of this balloon going down,” said weekend host Arthel Neville in a transcript obtained by Barrett News Media. “This balloon has been taken down. It is now falling from the sky there over Surfside Beach, South Carolina.”
FOX News said it was the only network to obtain and air live footage of the U.S. shooting down the suspected Chinese surveillance balloon in Surfside, South Carolina.
The network tracked the balloon’s movements with crews in South Dakota, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina. It had exclusive live feeds of the balloon in Missouri, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
“It’s a major coordination effort to do it. And hopefully we’ll be able to recover the sensor package on this as well. Obviously, they have a pretty good feel because they know what the wind currents are,” General Jack Keane told Neville. “They’re tracking all of this with some degree of sophistication, and we’ve got a lot of capability to do that, certainly, and we can recover this.”
