Andrew Fillipponi: Terry Bradshaw Interview of Andy Reid ‘In Poor Taste’

Terry Bradshaw is a Pittsburg legend, but that didn’t shield him from criticism from 93.7 The Fan’s Andrew Fillipponi and Chris Mueller.

On Monday, The PM Team discussed the interview between Bradshaw and Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid during the Super Bowl postgame. Bradshaw has been criticized for his conduct leading up to and concluding the interview, telling Reid to “waddle over here”, and told the two-time champion to “enjoy his Hawaiian shirts and have a cheeseburger on us”.

Fillipponi argued it wasn’t the correct scenario to joke with someone, even if the pair are friends.

“I just think there’s a time and a place to goof around with somebody about being fat and I don’t really think on the stage when you’re giving somebody their props for winning the Super Bowl is the right time or a good time to do it,” Fillipponi said.

“Terry is gonna give you the ‘I’m just trying to joke around and that’s my personality and that’s what I do. That’s why I’ve been on TV all these years and everybody knows that’s my schtick and that’s who I am’ and all that stuff. Okay, but is he making fun of somebody else’s appearance in that interview? If somebody got like a horrible haircut or somebody was a crappy dresser or something like that. Is he gonna make fun of a bald guy in that moment? No. It just seemed like he thought it would be fun and silly to make fun of a guy for being fat.”

“I’m not saying ‘Cancel Terry Bradshaw’ or anything like that, but I just thought it was in poor taste,” concluded Fillipponi.

“I thought it was odd,” Mueller said as he agreed he wasn’t trying to “cancel” Bradshaw, but added “do you really want Terry doing that again next year? Doesn’t Nantz usually hustle down there to do it for CBS? Let Kevin Burkhardt do it.”

The pair believed that when you have an award-winning reporter like Tom Rinaldi — who is widely admired — having Bradshaw conduct the interview was a curious choice.
