More than 113 million people watched the Super Bowl on FOX on Sunday, but not all of them liked what they saw. Count The Team 980’s Kevin Sheehan amongst those with complaints. He laid them out on Tuesday when Sports Business Journal’s John Ourand joined his show.

Sheehan’s issues were largely with the visuals. However, one of his chief complaints was about how the video and the audio matched up.

“This could just be me, but I have seen many, many complaining, so I know it’s not just me,” he said. “The audio’s off.”

Kevin Sheehan said this was not just an issue for the Super Bowl. He has noticed it during all of FOX’s biggest games this season, whether they are the 4:30 PM ET America’s Game of the Week broadcasts or in the postseason.

“When you’re looking at Jimmy Johnson and Strahan and the set and then they go to Burkhardt and Olsen on camera, they’re about a split second behind on their audio and video.”

Ourand agreed that it is a problem. He added that during Super Bowl LVII, the issue was most noticeable during the pregame musical performances.

It may be a local issue. Sheehan said he and Ourand live near each other in the Washington D.C. suburbs. He theorized that the delay could have something to do with Xfinity, which provides cable to the area.

Kevin Sheehan also had a problem with the way the FOX broadcast looked. Just like his complaints about the audio, the morning show host noted that his issues are not new. They just showed up on a bigger stage than ever.

“HD, forget about 4K for a moment. The HD picture has always looked better on NBC and CBS than on FOX.”
