A train derailment occurred on February 3 in East Palestine, Ohio, resulting in 38 rail cars leaving the track and a subsequent fire that damaged 12 additional cars. Out of the 20 hazardous material cars on the train, 11 derailed.
Rich Zeoli, afternoon host on WPHT in Philadelphia, expressed criticism of Joy Reid, a host on MSNBC, for comments she made during a monologue about the train derailment earlier this week. Reid attributed responsibility for the Ohio disaster to former President Donald Trump.
Zeoli claimed that Reid refrained from criticizing President Joe Biden and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg but said he was not surprised by MSNBC and Joy Reid’s decision to ignore the truth and instead criticize Donald Trump.
“When you talk about people that are unserious people, they’re not just in government, they are also in the media,” he said. “They are people like Joy Reid, they are people that work at MSNBC.”
During her monologue, Reid talked about Theodore Roosevelt’s efforts to regulate the railroad industry while he was serving as the President of the United States in 1904. However, she then turned her attention to former Presidents Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump, who she claimed reversed the progress made by Roosevelt.
“Fast forward today, where an environmental disaster is currently unfolding in the town of East Palestine, Ohio,” she said. “But then, Ronald Regan undid much of that and Donald Trump made it worse.”
“Because all of those guys did those things, that’s racist too obviously,” said Zeoli. “You know what would be an answer to all this too? Pipelines. Because if you transported stuff via pipelines, that would be helpful. But they don’t want pipelines either.”
When President Biden took office, he fulfilled his pledge to environmental advocates who supported his campaign by signing an executive order to terminate the Keystone XL pipeline.
