NewsNation To Debut ‘The Hill’ Panel Show

Corporate synergy is coming to NewsNation as the Nexstar-owned cable channel is set to launch a new afternoon show called The Hill — based on the same name of the company’s digital political outlet.

The Hill will air at 5:00 PM ET and anchor Leland Vittert will be joined by what is described as “a high-profile guest and four panelists”. Former NBC Meet the Press Executive Producer Rob Yarin will work in the same capacity for The Hill. Vittert — who will move to Washington D.C. — will continue to anchor his current program, On Balance for NewsNation.

Regular contributors to the new program will include NewsNation Political Editor Chris Stirewalt, political analyst George Will, and associate editor of TheHill.com Niall Stanage, among others.

“As the nation awaits another presidential election, we are incredibly proud to debut a new program that will spotlight the top news headlines coming out of Washington,” said NewsNation Vice President of News and Managing Editor Cherie Grzech.

“Engaging in powerful discussions with top politicians, thought leaders, and policy makers will enable us to inform and educate our viewers about the key issues that impact communities across America.”

Nexstar bought TheHill.com in August 2021 for $130 million. The addition of The Hill — which will debut in April — to the cable channel will replace an airing of Blue Bloods, the syndicated CBS police drama.

It is the latest in a series of moves to help bolster the fledgling network. Earlier this year, NewsNation announced Elizabeth Vargas will also join the network to host a daily program at 6:00 PM entitled Elizabeth Vargas Reports.
