ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter went viral on Wednesday sharing a screenshot of quarterback Aaron Rodgers telling him via text to lose his phone number.
Schefter was trying to get to the bottom of a scoop that both he and NFL reporter Dianna Russini had on Rodgers’ future in the NFL and talks with the New York Jets.
Dan Patrick thought everyone dunking on Schefter didn’t see the bigger picture and that Schefter was just doing his job.
“Aaron harps on fake news all the time. Adam Schefter is at least trying to get the right information here,” Patrick said Thursday on his radio show. “I think he’s tried to get it from Rodgers.”
Dan added that what he’d like to get to the bottom of was who leaked the information about Rodgers having a list of players he’d like to play with and talking to the Jets about it.
“That’s what I would like to know. Cause Aaron wants transparency,” Patrick said. “That didn’t last long! Jets have already leaked this.”
Patrick said ultimately his issue isn’t in that Rodgers wouldn’t speak to Schefter or Russini.
“I had no problem with that. And I know people go ‘Dan, Rodgers owned Adam Schefter,'” Patrick said. “I’m like, no he didn’t! Schefty tried!”
